Karolin Schnoor Illustration

Images from Karolin Schnoor

Good morning! Karolin Schnoor is a German freelance illustrator and designer based in London. I love the pattern in her work and also the use of block colour- very effective. I also love seeing paint brushes in mugs!

On another note, thanks to Krysten and domestikate for featuring me on their blogs this week! They both have super blogs so check them out.

Girl in a Red Dress

Images from Kanaes

Happy Wednesday! I love these illustrations I discovered from Sato Kanae- so sweet! I love the bold colours and shapes.

I thought the swimmer illustration was quite appropriate as the Olympic torch is heading through my own town today. It's quite the party atmosphere what with all of the bunting and preparations for the Queen's Jubilee too!

Beautiful Patterns

Images from Talita Carvalho

One thing I love about summer and the sunshine is all the pattern and colour that you start to see in every day life. It really does brighten things up (and I say that as someone who has a wardrobe laregely comprised of black clothes)! I really love these patterns from artist Talita Carvalho. The detail and use of colour is fantastic.

Let's Talk About This Book

I love this project! I love reading books, buying books, researching books (as my crammed bookshelves and Kindle reading list demonstrate) and talking about books with others but don't often get the chance. Do you ever get the feeling where you want to recommend a book to someone just so you can discuss it with them?!

This Back Cover Book Club is a fantastic idea- encouraging strangers to talk about  books as they come across them. You can download the book wrap for the site here

Do you like talking about books? What great books have you read lately?

Happy Sunday!

Image Luis Barragan /Beat Pie

Happy Sunday! I hope you're having a fantastic weekend. I have to say, I am really really loving the sunshine weather that has been here for the last week. Flip flops, iced coffee, maxi dresses and ice cream are my current favourite things.

I also love this image, I just loved the horse in it! Fun. Here is the weekly round up of some fab links, including a fab vintage London apartment, book art and something very clever with cardboard.

Love this amazing cardboard window display
How do you feel about modern art?
I am swooning over the vintage style in this London apartment!
Cara Barer has created some amazing art with books.
 Really love this fun packaging!
Sandra Javera has some awesome Flickr sets.

Lakes and Reservoirs

Images/ Matthew Brandt, found here

Happy Friday! I am so pleased it's Friday- lovely sunshine, iced coffee and Eurovision to look forward to this weekend! (Really! I love the kitsch.)

I also LOVE this photography from Matthew Brandt. In this Lakes and Reservoirs series, Matthew Brandt features photographs of lakes and reservoirs that have been soaked in the same specific body of water. This creates amazingly uniquely colourful, moving pieces.

So, what are your plans for the weekend? Anyone else looking forward to Eurovision?!

Charlotte Caron Animal Portraits

Images from Charlotte Caron

I really love these portraits from French artist Charlotte Caron. I think there's something slightly unsettling yet magical about them, especially in their eyes. What do you think?

On a separate note I would just like to say that I am really loving the weather here right now! Hot sunshine, where have you been?

Floating Kite Houses

Images from Jamie Mills

Good morning. I really love these illustrations from Jamie Mills. I love the idea of floating houses lifted up by colourful kites (like the film Up!) and bears with colourful shapes coming out of a growl!

This actually reminds me that I love flying kites! I might dig one out this weekend, they're so fun.

Sleep Elevations

I am sleepy this morning! Currently on my second cup of coffee already. One of those days where I really did not want to get out of bed. Although now I'm up it's a lovely sunny day so maybe it's not too bad!

I think these Sleep Elevations from Maia Flore are beautiful- so peaceful.  I love the backgrounds in the photos too. I'm not sure, but I think the last one looks like Paris, so I especially love that one (and the cloud!).

Smoke Series Floto + Warner

Here's to a new week! Hope you had a great weekend, what did you get up to? I mainly used my time to massively declutter and finish watching the series The Bridge (awesome!). There is something addictive about sorting out and decluttering don't you think?!

Anyway, I really like this Smoke Series from Floto + Warner. I love the colours used and the movement of the smoke that is captured so brilliantly. There's something a bit sinister about it.

Happy Sunday

Happy Sunday! Hope you're all having a great weekend. I am definitely having a lazy Sunday morning. Here are some fun links for your perusal this week including a wedding, delicious food and gorgeous prints.

I really love this French circus themed wedding.

This handmade fiesta bunting makes me want to throw a summer party immediately (just need some sunshine).

This is an absolutely beautiful railway line. Really.

I would like this cloud keyholder! Awesome.

Delicious apple crumble in a cone! Yes.

Want a DIY project for the weekend?

How about these awesome neon DIY bottles from Mache Magazine? Have a great weekend!

Super Snow Photography

I love Fridays so much- I get to share brilliant photography and look forward to the weekend ahead. I have recently discovered the work of Joel Tettamanti through the blog of Lisa Congdon. I really love landscapes that are covered in snow- I think snow makes everything more beautiful and peaceful. I love the pops of colour from the houses against the white background.

What sort of landscapes do you like looking at?

Ben Giles + Flowers

I'm really loving flowers lately. It must be the lack of spring-like weather! Ben Giles creates these awesome flower collages. I love them- so much fun and energy in each one. What do you think?

Also I am really excited to be part of the Craft It Forward that the lovely Kerry is hosting on The Seventy Tree. Need to get my craft on!

Nick Meek

Nick Meek is the photographer behind these amazing photographs. For some reason, I have chosen photographs with a pink hue- the bright colours really appeal to me. I love seeing planes in the sky- always makes me wonder where people are going on that plane!

Check out more images in his portfolio here. And happy Wednesday!

Permanent Confetti

I love confetti, do you? Throwing it or seeing it scattered on the floor totally makes me smile. As I have said before, I think it should be thrown at more events, not just weddings!

This Confetti piece from Bethan Laura Wood really intrigued me- it explores the idea of transforming something fleeting into something more permanent. Beautiful!

Ready, Set, Felt Tip Pen

Good morning! Monday already. I say that every week, but the weekends just seem to fly by!

Joan Salo is an artist that lives and works in Barcelona and Berlin. She creates these fantastic pieces out of felt tip pen! Felt tip pen. Amazing. I am totally in awe of the patience involved in doing that, especially the fine detail and colour layering involved in these pieces. People are sure doing some amazing things with felt tip pens lately.

Happy Sunday! Hope you're having a great weekend- what are you up to? It's FINALLY not raining here, so I have been making the most of time outside.

Here are some lovely links from around the web this week- amazing art, a pie, Vidal Sassoon and London all included.

Nicola Vruwink is an amazing artist!

I really like this project- a Year of Sundays

I love Boat Magazine and I love their London issue

I love every print in this shop.

And a great photo tribute to Vidal Sassoon

City Silhouettes

It's Friday! It's photography time. It's no secret that I love cities (even though I live in the countryside), and try to visit them as much as possible. I love getting to the top of a really high building and then looking down on the city below, imagining what is going on in each building or what the people below are getting up to. I love that effect where you're through the glass and take a photo, only to get back a photo of yourself and camera.

So, I love this series by Jasper James called City Silhouettes. It makes me want to book a trip immediately, especially the plane shot.

I'll Take A Single Flower

Images from One Kings Lane

It's been a while since I shared something so organised! I think I am drawn to these organised styling shots because I am just so messy in real life (seriously, my desk at work is about the be swallowed up in a paper avalanche). Organisation seems a land far, far away for me.

I really love this styling from Mason Stefl. There is something so simple yet beautiful about a single flower or bloom. The styling really highlights the beauty in simplicity or everyday objects- I love that.
