Pantone Perfect

Who would have thought pantones would lead to such exciting work? (I say that as someone who manages print for a living and therefore deals in problems with pantones so perhaps the excitement has worn off). But all this amazing work sure proves me wrong!
Griottes has created this amazing series on Pantones out of food.
The Pantone Hotel in Belgium looks awesome and is definitely on my 'to visit' list.
And look at these amazing Pantone eggs from How About Orange.

Happy Sunday

Happy Sunday. Are you having a good weekend? Sadly, the weather here is still raining so no seaside for me! Instead I have stayed in and caught up on lots of indoor things- painting, sorting out my nail varnish collection and finally sorting out all of my photos since New Year.

One of the photos I came across was this pistachio and chocolate pastry from Paris. I was in love with that pastry and will happily travel the 4 hours to go and get one again! It was that delicious. IS there any food you would travel for again?

Anyway, here are some lovely links for your Sunday:

Going to London soon? Check out this London street food map

It's Saturday! My favourite day of the week. To celebrate, have some jelly letters. I love these! Colourful, jelly letters. Super fun!

I Love This Photography

Images from Alexandra Valenti Found via here

Happy happy Friday! This week has been quite strange- with lots and lots of rain. So here's to a dryish weekend if possible! What are your plans? I would love to go to the seaside if the rain can hold off...but I'm not too hopeful about that!
So, how much do I love this photography of Leslie Crow by Alexandra Valenti? Answer, quite a lot! I really like the combination of painting and photography. They're giving me a real summer, chilled out vibe- they make me want August to get here. What do you think of the combination of photography and painting?

Sparkle

Sometimes, you just need a bit of sparkle in your day. I really like how everday things can provide sparkle- the pattern of the sun through some leaves, the sun through a window, the glistening of some beads in a bracelet. It's pretty cool.

I love the above print by Abby Powell Thompson and I love the idea of these glitter eggs- I really must get round to making them soon, they look so much fun (and messy!).

Do You Adore The Night?

Do you adore the night? I love this challenge from le projet d'amour that I discovered on Yelena Bryksenkova's blog. Yelena submitted these three works for the challenge, each representing different things she loves about the night. The first (above) is the black night in the country.

The second is the 'mysterious twinkling night' in the city.
And the third is the night of outer space.
All images from Yelena Bryksenkova
It's funny because I have always considered myself a morning person. I love the tweeting of the birds, the thought of the day ahead, the smell of coffee and the morning glow of light. But now, I realise that I love the night just as much. I love sitting in a city looking out at the lights glowing, and I love being in a field in the middle of the countryside with just black night before me, and maybe some stars. I love it when you've been eating outside and suddenly it's dark! The night is so peaceful, just as the early morning is.
I really urge you to check out the rest of the Why I Adore The Night Challenge.

Do you prefer the morning light or the night?

National Stationery Day

Image from Guardian by Belinda

It's National Stationery Day, did you know?! So get out your cards, that empty notebook, your good pen, your stamps and your envelopes and use them! I love stationery, but I always have a problem using it up- there's always something about spoiling a blank card or notebook with messy handwriting or not the right sentiment.

But this is ridiculous- stationery is there to be used and enjoyed, to be pinned on the wall or opened excitedly. Send a handwritten something today- it will brighten someone's day up that's for sure.

One City 5 Hours

Images from Oliver Jeffers

Even though I am pretty happy living in the English countryside, I love visiting cities at any opportunity. My husband and I always go on city breaks for holidays- no resting on a beach for us! I love cities because you can see so much in a short amount of time.

So I love these travel journals found on Oliver Jeffers website. Each entry is a whirlwind visit of a city in 5 hours. I love how the essence of each city is completely captured in a few illustrations and words, really amazing. Definitely something to try next time I visit a new place. Also, his portfolio is a complete treasure trove of awesome paintings, works and projects, I really recommend checking his work out!

Gracia & Louise

Images from Gracia & Louise

It's Monday already- where did that weekend go?! Hope you had a great one.

I am so pleased that I discovered the work of Melbourne based Gracia Haby & Louise Hennison this weekend. They make lots of lovely things, mostly on paper. I love their zines especially. I also really like the nature theme that is present in a lot of their work. Go and check them out!

Happy Sunday

Happy Sunday! Have you had a good week? Some things I have enjoyed this week are: homemade chicken soup, buying a lovely new dress (the colour of the orange roses!), treating myself to these bright roses, a nice lie in this morning and spending lots of time with family who I don't see that often. Also! New pyjamas.

Here are some lovely links for your Sunday:

People flying in New York City. Awesome!

I love these neon ribbons.

This is a fun stationery shop I stumbled across.

I love this Scrabble save the date.

I want to be IN this daisy print.

Photo Collages of London

Images from Adrian Brannan

Happy Friday! For Friday Photography this week, I thought I would share the work of Adrian Brannan.

Adrian creates photo collages from often one thousand 35mm film photographs. Often they are taken from multiple locations and with different film and processing techniques. No digital processes are used at any stage. Cool, huh?

I love the one of St Paul's with the flashes of red buses and the taxi. I must book a trip to London soon!

Very Bright Aerograms!

I have posted quite a few times about lovely handwritten letter projects. I mean, there's no better post than a handwritten note or card. Do you remember aerograms? When I was a child I had a penpal in Idaho, USA and I used to love getting aerograms to write to her and then excitedly await her reply. I would always decorate them.

These aerograms from The Hungry Workshop are fantastic- imagine getting one of these in the post! I love the patterns and colours. Fun!

Exploded Flowers

Images from Qi Wei
I love these photographs of exploded flowers from artist Qi Wei. I love seeing how many components and petals make up each flower- they're pretty amazing things!

Paris vs New York

Images from Guardian

So, Amelie vs Carrie or cupcakes vs macarons? Graphic designer Vahram Murtyan has compared Paris and New York in these fun graphics. Having been lucky to have been to Paris this year, I don't know which one I would choose! I am looking forward to going to New York in the summer to do some more research ;)

How about you? Would you choose Paris or New York?

Happy Sunday

Happy Sunday. I hope you're having a fun weekend. I can't take credit for the Victoria sponge above- my husband made it but it was super delicious (just look at the amount of cream and jam!). Here are some fun links from around the web this week:

The fantastic global rainbow light project

A cafe made from cardboard! Fun.

I am loving this new (to me ) Apartmento Magazine

These illustrations from Sarah McNeil are lovely!

I love these dried flowers

And a huge shout out to the absolutely beautiful blog Simply Breakfast

The Impossible Project

Images by JL Pictures /The Impossible Project

Happy Friday! Do you have any nice plans for the weekend? Mine are pretty good- I'm getting a much needed massage tomorrow and then going to a poetry festival in the evening. Looking forward to it!

I love The Impossible Project. I love how these images have captured city light. In 2008 they saved the last Polaroid production plant and in 2010 they saved instant analog photography by releasing new instant films. I love instant film photography- I used to have a Polaroid and should really explore the newer options.

Do you like Polaroids/ other instant film photography?

Katie Daisy- What A Wonderful World

Images from The Wheatfield

I am currently looking out of the window at lots of rain and listening about thunder and lightning storms to come to my part of the world today. Where is the spring sunshine?! I think that's why I like this work from Katie Daisy so much- it is so cheerful and bright, spring on a page.

Handwritten Letters. A project.

Do you love receving proper, handwritten letters in the post? I do but really can't remember the last time I received or sent one for that matter. I used to love the excitement of getting that letter and opening it to see what's inside! I really must write some letters again. That is why I love the HAND.WRITTEN.LETTER.PROJECT.

The project invited designers and creative thinkers to write a letter on their own stationery, with some really interesting and creative results. The collection is fascinating and you can see more of the letters here. You can also find out more about the travelling exhibition.

Do you love to send or receive handwritten letters?

Let's Sleep Here: French Graffiti Hotel

Images from Au Vieux Panier

Happy Tuesday! I always love looking at hotels, especially crazily decorated ones. Could you sleep in this French hotel? It's pretty amazing! A different artist or designer designed each room in the hotel with some pretty incredible results, like this graffiti room from artisit TILT.

Could you sleep in this hotel room?
