Poppies For Grace

Images from Poppies for Grace

I was really happy when I stumbled across the company Poppies for Grace. The bright colours really cheered me up and now I want to throw a party, as I usually do when I see great party decoration ideas! I love that confetti is not just limited to weddings anymore- everyone can use more confetti in their lives! (I now have a random vision of just walking round in public chucking confetti everywhere).

Map Your Song

Images from Dorothy

I love it when people come up with clever ideas (I am also a bit envious, but mainly I love it). This Song Map from Dorothy definitely fits into this category! I had to share it immediately when I saw it on Design Crush.

What is your favourite song from the roads you can see? I will enjoy finding mine!

Finland, Forest and Circus Ladies

Images from Lucy Driscoll

Happy Monday! I'm trying to get as excited about Monday as I do about Friday. Hope you all had a great weekend!

These illustrations from Lucy Driscoll are brilliant. I love the simplicity. I think my favourite is the Circus Ladies- there is something so fun and non-Monday like about them!

Happy Sunday

Image from Asa Liffner

Happy Sunday. I love the above photo from Asa Liffner. There is something just so luxurious about a breakfast spread on a weekend morning! I hope you're all having super weekends! My one major goal this weekend was to set up Sparrow + Spark! on Facebook and I have done just that. It's here if you would like to like!

Here are some links from around the web that caught my eye this week:

Berlin's Hüttenpalast Hotel looks amazing. It features three vintage caravans and three mountain huts – indoors!

Love these fabric felt face brooches, such a lovely 1920 influence.

Check out this Stellar project. It's awesome, do it! (Sorry to be bossy, but it really is fantastic!).

This stop motion animation video from Josh Ritter is absolutely gorgeous.

Love this farm yard animal series by Sharon Montrose.

This is so sweet- an instant pocket comfort box.

Really interesting article on Tokyo homes.

Friday Clouds

 Images from Linnea Paulsson

There is something about this pattern by Linnea Paulsson that screams Friday afternoon to me- relaxing, daydreaming clouds. Looking up at the clouds is an instant way to feel relaxed and happy- so it's a perfect thing to sneak in before the sun goes down for the day.

Have a great weekend!

I Love the Word Atelier

Images from Garancedore

I do! I love the words emerald, delicious and elixir too- just so you know. Also, 'it's Friday' is a pretty great word combination, don't you think?!

This photography of jeweller Lara Melchior's atelier is fantastic. I love looking into people's work spaces and I really love the combination between work space and life space- I think that Lara has got a great balance. Awesome taste (and beautiful jewellery).

A Rabbit and a Penguin

That is not the start of a joke. This morning, in my rush to turn it off, my alarm clock fell on my head. Hard. It was not the wake up call I had hoped for! I was in a pretty grumpy mood, until I remembered these sweet paper puppets I had waiting to post about.

They're so sweet! I really love old fashioned toys and these tick all the boxes- you make them yourself, great design and a super sweet character. Thanks, Furze Chan! Check them out over at Little Paper Planes.

I can't decide which one is my favourite, because both rabbits and penguins are pretty cool. Have a great day!

Say it in Pink

Sometimes, on a Wednesday afternoon you need a bit of a boost to get you through. Coffee or chocolate are my normal methods of choice, but seeing something super bright and awesome will also work well. Step in Federico Saenz-Recio with these awesome paintings.

Portraits of Grandpa

Images from Hilda Grahnat blog. Full list of collaborators here.

I am really happy to have stumbled across this gorgeous zine from a collaboration of artists. It is a lovely idea. As artist Hilda Grahnat says, 'Grandpas can be peculiar. As our grandpas disappear, so do their stories. We've made this zine to celebrate them and now it's finally done!'.

I love a collaboration project as different styles and approaches really come together. The illustrations are fantastic. You can preorder the zine here.

A Rainbow and a Lion

A lion and a rainbow. Sometimes the most bizarre combinations are the best to make you smile. I love this illustration by Rachel Basinger. You can check out more of her work in her Etsy shop here.

Colour Blocking by Kontor Kontur

Images and work from Kontor Kontur

Kontor Kontur is a design collaboration that has produced these fantastic images. I still love the idea of arranging things by colour- it looks awesome and it somehow makes ordinary possessions a work of art. I love the gloves and the giant yellow safety pin.

Industry of One

Images from Industry Of One/ Adam Patrick Jones and Rachel Brown

Good morning! It's Monday already- why does the weekend always go so fast?!

What do you wear to work? What is the connection between your work and your personal life? Do you have particular clothes that you have to wear to work? (I do. Boring office clothes- no red tights allowed.)

Industry Of One is an amazing periodical seeking to explore these questions. It's awesome. It features people like Lani and Katie and I just love it. I can never resist projects like this anyway but I really adore this.

Paris

Happy Sunday! I hope you're all having a lovely weekend. I'm still getting back into the swing of things after our trip to Paris this week. I really hate unpacking (and coming back off holiday), so I will put it off for as long as possible which means living out of a suitcase and forgetting where I left things.

We had a great trip. We started off with a night in London to get the Eurostar the next morning. We didn't do too much as we go to London a lot, but we went to the V&A museum and the Science Museum which were both really interesting and definitely worth a visit (and free!).

Then, we got the Eurostar to Paris! As we have been before, the aim of this trip was just to wander about, soaking Paris in and we totally did that- no rushing around from sight to sight.

We enjoyed wandering the streets of the city and looking up at the lovely facades- I want shutters!

We stopped at street cafes and local boulangeries.

We took in the amazing views.

We enjoyed the great views from the Pompidou Centre. I 100% recommend visiting here- great modern art and also fantastic views across the city.

We strolled through the city at night...

We ate lemon tarts, fresh bread, chocolate tarts, drank hot chocolate, drank great wine (I am now on a serious diet!). And tried lots of macarons. Basically, every day I ate something amazingly delicious.

I loved coming across some surprising things. A secret courtyard garden, some secret hearts, some secret locks.

We covered a lot of the city, but just loved taking it all in, stopping at a cafe for a hot chocolate or getting lost and finding a fun art gallery. I now have loads of tips for a fun (and affordable!) visit to Paris- would anyone be interested in me putting together a post of tips?!
