Let's Go To The Movies

Images and work by Claudia Varosio

Happy Wednesday! These retro illustration versions of iconic movies by Claudia Varosio are fantastic. I love the interpretation of the classic films. You can buy them in her Etsy store here- they would make fantastic presents as surely everyone has a favourite movie in her collection. My personal favourites are featured above!

Chalk Talk

Love this image from Roman and Williams. Blackboard paint and chalk are a great way to liven up a space! I think it's perfect for an office- and any notes you need to make! On a side note, I totally love the vintage desk too!

Fun, Bright Storage Ideas

Images and projects House to Home as seen on Charlotte Rivers

If you're anything like me, you have a lot of stuff. Lots of bits and bobs that get in the way, but you still want to keep? I am talking about buttons, ribbons, tickets, beads. All really important stuff ;)

So, I love these fun storage ideas! The animal jars would be easy to DIY and would look great on a shelf. The dolls house storage would look amazing made out of a vintage dolls house- what do you think?

Steven Larson Paintings

Images from Steven Larson as seen via Design Tonic Mag

These paintings from Steven Larson are amazing. So evocative! I love the layers of paint and images and the details that you can see.

Lackluster

Images and products from Lackluster

Monday! Do you have a fun week ahead planned? I am super busy now every week until Christmas- the best way to be in my opinion!

Lacklustre is one of my favourite words and now Lackluster is one of my favourite online boutiques! I love the vintage finds and the slick presentation. Vintage pieces can add so much depth to a room. The vintage cash register signs would look great on a kitchen counter or as a centrepiece.

Like, You Know? + Happy Sunday!

I admit it- I am a language geek and proud of it. I'm not perfect, but I do like to at least try and sound as though I know how to speak properly! I love this performance from Taylor Mali. If you care about speech at all, then check it out! Have some faith in your sentences ;)

Hope you all have a lovely Sunday filled with naps, coffee and cakes (or whatever you like to do on your Sunday!).

Here's the weekly round up of generally cool stuff that I have loved this week:

The most lovely vintage wedding dress ever. Really!

Amazing spice selection. Want it!

Still love Paris! Vintage perfume ad. Check it out!

You need to watch Pan Am. The travel, the fashion, the hair styles- all amazing.

A piece of art that can fit in your pocket! Gold cube fun.

Pure comfort food. Delicious.

It's not too late to make a great advent calendar!

And here's a round up of Sparrow + Spark! from this week:

The most lovely view ever.

Can't choose what to display on your wall? No worries, stick it all up!

Really fun dollhouse to make.

Use up old books. Vintage pages as decor.

Super Fun Illustration

Images from Yumiko

Happy Saturday morning. I think this illustration from Yumiko is so much fun, perfect for a Saturday! I love the poodle!

Have a great weekend!

Perfect View + Happy Friday!

As seen on Miss Moss

Happy Friday! I love Friday afternoons- but I do think they're the slowest day of the week!

I thought I would share this gorgeous view that I spotted on Miss Moss. Imagine knowing that you could spend the weekend ahead in that room! I would never leave it.

Too Many Frames

Image 1 The Selby via Miss Moss, Images 2 + 3 Freunde Von Freunden

I love the look of many frames on a wall. I've never been very good at deciding what paintings, prints or photos to display and so with this trend I don't need to...

On a side note, I love the neon print in the third image- neon is definitely making a comeback from the 80's. I am very pleased that it's now in tasteful art prints rather than bumbags or cheap McDonalds sunglasses.

Let's Get Comfortable

Image 1 and kit MillaMia, Image 2 and kit here!, Image 3 and kit Modern Needleworks

Christmas is coming and that means gift buying! I think there has been a huge shift in gift buying- people are really trying to find things that are meaningful, special and lasting. That's why I love kits that mean you can make something- a lasting gift that is so much fun!

I love the idea of making a cushion. Above is a round-up of some of the best I have found on the web. No old fashioned, embroidered cushions of horses allowed.

I Could Afford This House

Image and house Design Museum Shop

This make-do house from Design Museum Shop is so fun! A house I could actually afford! I think this would be seriously fun to make up.

Turn The Page

Image 1 from Style Me Pretty, Image 2 from Hans Blomquist, Image 3 from Kaysha Weiner, found at here

Does anyone else have a problem with books? My husband and I live in a fairly small two bedroomed flat, yet books are there in every room! Cookbooks, crime thrillers, Harry Potters, education books...just everywhere! Giving them away or getting rid of them makes me feel as though I am giving away the characters- how ridiculous is that?!

So, I love these ideas for reusing books in decor. I don't think Harry Potter would mind being turn into a cool chandelier.

Luci Everett and Delicate Art

Image from Luci Everett

. I love these delicate illustrations and surface art work from Luci Everett. I love the scattered petals and leaves- I can't stop looking at them!

Shut That Door!

Image 1 from here, Image 2 from here, Image 3 from here

I love love love reused and vintage elements in houses. It makes me really sad when you see perfectly good pieces of furniture or wood or fabric just chucked out, unloved and no longer wanted! I rescue some, often from the side of the street, but don't have the space for 19 chairs. (Does fabric have feelings? If it does then I'm pretty sure it is annoyed too).

So, I love the concept of reusing vintage doors in modern/ new interiors. I love the combination. I really like the door in image 1, just propped against the wall. A super easy way of adding colour, detail and something a bit interesting to a room.

Rosie Roberts Illustration

Images and illustrations from Rosie Roberts

These illustrations from Rosie Roberts are fantastic. Rosie is an illustrator and print maker living in London. I love the cat illustration especially. There is something particularly creepy about cats in the wrong light and I think it captures this perfectly!

I Bought a Purple Coat

Happy Monday! Here's to a good week ahead.

I bought a purple coat this weekend, I love it. I was really trying hard to not revert back to a boring black coat- it's much nicer to wear something colourful in the depths of winter. It has inspired me to bring more purple into my life- I love the idea of a sumptuous velvet chair or throw. I want that chair in the bottom picture! Having strong colours in an interior is a great way to make an instant impact, even in a rental property.

I could have also included a picture of my purple cold-fighting Lemsip blackcurrant drink, but I didn't think that would be that inspiring...

Do you get unintentionally inspired by the things you buy?

Happy Sunday + Delicious Coffee

Sunday morning! I have waited for this day after a totally manic (but good!) week! So now I can kick back for an hour or so with some delicious coffee.

Sooo, here's a collated set of some of what was on Sparrow + Spark! this week:

Some fantastic Finnish textile prints and products

Jennifer Davis art prints. So much colour!

Bread exchange and Berlin apartment tour. Check out the floors!

Paper, flowers, rock. Awesome paper event decoration.

And here are some awesome links from across the web of things I have loved this week! So, grab yourself a cup of delicious coffee and dig in.

Hand stamped vintage coffee spoons. How I would love to scoop out my coffee with these!

Cute gift idea! Cityscape stamp set.

Do you like ghost stories? Visit the spookiest place in Britain!

Great festive decoration idea. Cupcake liner garland!

How to keep a pretty fridge. Mine definitely is not in this category!

An Octagonal Room

Happy Saturday! What are your plans for the weekend? I am recovering from my first festive party of the year and drinking lots of cinnamon coffee. So delicious. I may have to ration it as it's a pretty expensive day to day coffee.

I thought I'd just share this gorgeous, cosy space this morning. I can think of nowhere more perfect to spend the day drinking coffee and reading magazines than this little room. I imagine if it was raining it would be evem more cosy!

Have a brilliant Saturday.

Good Textiles. Made in Finland.

As seen orignally on Bloesem

Happy Friday! I love Fridays so much. Today will be busy as I have my first Christmas party of the season tonight- in mid November! Craziness. Maybe I will go the whole hog this weekend and surround myself with gingerbreadn while drinking mulled wine while watching Elf or something.

Here is a lovely treat for you, sustainably produced textile products from Finnish company Saana Ja Olli. As they say on their website, they are good textiles, made in Finland. I love the photo styling too. Check them out and have a great Friday, early festive celebrating or not!

Fantastic Mountain Stories

Images + products from Little Red Stuga

Something about mountains makes me think of stories. Maybe it's the campfires (in your dreams!) or the stories you tell yourself to keep you going as you struggle up a mountainside. Or, perhaps it's the fact that there's not much else there to do but tell stories or slip into a nice dream of soft beds and warm water! I took the above photo on a freezing February day in the Lake District...certainly a campfire would have warmed me up then!

I love these mountain beanbags from Little Red Stuga. They were made to create a place for storytelling, with fantasy and travel in mind, for both adults and children. If you look in the patterns on the beanbags you will see little details like climbers and hearts.

My Little Day Party

Images from My Little Day

I love the sophisticated, styled version of the children's parties from My Little Day. I really like the black and white theme with flashes of red. The pom poms on the floor are a great touch! I don't think many children's parties would actually end up looking like this (too much wrapping paper, cake and decorations everywhere!), but I love the thought of it!

I love your style, Jennifer Davis

Images from Jennifer Davis

Wednesday. It's all down hill to the weekend from here, yippee! I know I shouldn't wish my life away, but I'm just really looking forward to the weekend!

I love this work from illustrator Jennifer Davis. It is totally my style- bright colours, simple lines and fun, interesting subjects. I am currently deciding which print to order and where to put it. Seriously hard to choose.
