Marshmallowists

Images from The Marshmallowists

Apparently it is supposed to be summer, but as I sit here looking out of my window at the wet, blustery weather, clutching a hot cup of coffee and wrapped up in my fleece dressing gown, I am not so convinced. It's a shame because after seeing these amazing marshmallows from The Marshmallowists all I want to do is have a summery campfire and toast marshmallows! And make smores. I suppose I could just eat them instead though, or put them on top a seasonably inappropriate hot chocolate! These are seriously grown up marshmallows though, with flavours like blueberry and gin, raspberry and champagne and coconut. Yum! You can find the Marshmallowists at one of my favourite places- Portobello Road market.

Coffee Stains

Good morning and happy Monday! Guess what? I am pregnant! (hence the absence on the blog the last few weeks- I was just too wiped out in the mornings to post regularly!). Add in to that we're hopefully buying a house and it has been a crazy time! So, a good cup of strong filter coffee where I don't have to think about the mg of caffeine in it (the more the merrier) sounds really good right now. (On that note, does anyone have any good decaf recommendations?).

It's little wonder then that I love this work from Malaysian artist Hong Yi- a beautiful portrait created out of a variety of coffee stains. And how good does that strong coffee look at the top?!

Daily Sketches

Images from Sophie Leblanc

I just love sketches and sketch books. When I was at school I got permission to see some Leonardo da Vinci's anatomy sketches and I was absolutely fascinated. I still vividly remember putting on the special white gloves and being in total awe! I always intend to (and have great ambitions!) to keep a daily sketch book, but my good intentions always get distracted by things like work, sleep, taking photos and day to day life. So I always love looking inside artists' sketch books. I love these daily sketches from Sophie Leblanc.

Art and Cake

How can it be Monday morning already?! When my alarm when off at 5.45am this morning, I was not happy. Hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine was full of lunches out, house viewings and trips to furniture shops.

I am not a huge wedding cake person. Marzipan and super sweet icing leave me totally cold. At our wedding, we had an Italian dessert buffet instead (we were in Italy!). But I might have to change my mind having seen these fantastic creations from Marcella Robin. I think they are truly the best cakes I have ever seen- and there doesn't look to be any marzipan or sickly icing in sight. And even better, Marcella keeps a freezer full of sponge sketches. Sketches in sponge!

Pretty News

Images from Donna Ruff

I think I have said before, I am a total news addict. I read all sorts of websites, newspapers and blogs for various takes on current news. It makes me pretty opinionated, but hey, we all have our faults! So obviously, I really love this work from Donna Ruff. Turning front page news into delicate paper patterns is just really cool.

Also, hello! I have been away from the blog for a couple of weeks as life just completely took over. But I am more than happy to be back now! How is everyone?
